Men's Mental Health Support

What is it?
Men’s mental health therapy is a counselling service tailored specifically for men’s well-being and the unique challenges men often face. It creates a space where men can talk openly about what’s on their mind – stress, feelings, problems – with a trained therapist, in a setting that’s free of judgment or stereotype. This form of therapy acknowledges that social pressures and ideas about “masculinity” can sometimes make it harder for men to seek help. Many men are taught to “man up” or hide their emotions, which can lead to bottling things up instead of addressing them. Men’s mental health therapy is designed to break down those barriers. The tone is down-to-earth and collaborative – you won’t be expected to be instantly “in touch with your feelings.” Instead, the therapist will likely take a practical, solution-focused approach. Think of it as having a confidential coach or ally who helps you work through whatever’s causing trouble, whether it’s anxiety, depression, anger, or just the pressures of life. Importantly, while the approach is male-friendly, it’s still evidence-based therapy – meaning it draws on proven psychological strategies, but often delivered in a way that resonates with men.

Any issue that’s affecting your mental or emotional well-being. Commonly, men reach out for help with depression or anxiety, but it’s okay if you don't have a diagnosed condition, maybe you just sense that “something’s not right.” Common issues raised in men's therapy include stress management, anger and irritability, relationship problems, life transitions, grief and loss, addictive behaviours, self-esteem and identity issues.
This service is for men of all ages and backgrounds who want support with their mental health.
Men's therapy works much like other forms of counselling, but makes greater use of strategies that men tend to find more helpful. This can include a more practical, skills-based approach to therapy and uses strategies such as problem solving, goal setting, psychoeducation and skill development.
We take pride in offering a men’s mental health service that is not only friendly and approachable, but also aligned with best-practice principles for engaging men in therapy. Our therapists have training and experience specifically in men’s mental health to better understand how to tailor therapy for male clients. What this means for you is that we “get” men.
Our standard fee is $200.00 per 50-minute session for individual Men's Mental Health Support. You may be entitled to a rebate of $98.95 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year if you consult with your GP and complete a Mental Health Care Plan, meaning you would pay a gap fee of $101.05 per session.
For clients receiving support from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), sometimes your NDIS plan can fully fund these sessions. Feel free to contact us or raise this with your support coordinator if you have questions.
Taking the first step can feel difficult for many men, so we aim to make it as easy as possible. If you’re considering therapy (or even just wondering if it’s right for you), We'd encourage you to book a 10-minute intro call to ask any burning questions or to check if this feels like a good fit for you. You can also get in touch through the website, call our clinic or send us an email – even if you don’t know what to say beyond “I think I might need some help,” that’s okay. We'll guide you through the next steps. Remember, you don’t need a referral to see us; you can self-refer and just reach out. If you do have a Mental Health Care Plan it'll make the sessions cheaper for you, but it’s not required to start.
